Hopefully this isn’t just dawning on you, but Father’s Day is this weekend! If you haven’t thought of that perfect Father’s Day gift, there’s no need to worry. This might be the year that instead of getting your dad another grill apron, you take him out and enjoy something different. Whether that’s a comedy show, beer tasting, or some smooth jazz, there are plenty of events taking place over the Father’s Day weekend.
Motor City Brew Tours will be holding its annual Beer Tasting Boat Cruise on the Detroit Princess Riverboat this Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m. Take dad on a cruise down the Detroit River as you’ll get to enjoy sampling more than 40 seasonal beers and hard ciders from Michigan breweries. Your ticket includes 15 drink samples, appetizers, and live entertainment throughout the two hour boat ride.
Smooth jazz, fine dining, and delicious cocktails are on hand at Cliff Bell’s Father’s Day event beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Vintage pop jazz singer Steven Taetz will be on hand to sing songs from Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and his own catalogue. Make sure you make reservations for the event through Cliff Bell’s website.
Share a laugh with dad this weekend as Comedian CP will hit the stage at the Punchline Comedy Lounge starting on Friday. The Detroit based comedian hosted MTV2’s “World Star” and is known for his freestyle form of comedy. For more information on upcoming comedians coming to the Punchline Comedy Lounge, be sure to check out their calendar.
A Father’s Day tradition, the Belleville National Strawberry Festival returns for a weekend full of parades, carnival rides, car shows, and of course, strawberries. The fun begins on Friday afternoon with the annual parade taking place on Saturday at 11 a.m. For information on all of the events taking place throughout the weekend, be sure to visit their website.
If you’re looking to get dad out of the house for some unique events, the Ann Arbor Summer Festival is the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Festivities kick-off on Friday night and run through Sunday, July 7. Father’s Day festivities include a 24 Hour Film Challenge, a performance from The Left Lanes, and a screening of “Frozen.”
