It seems that more than ever people are proud to let their geek flag fly; whether that be with clothes, collectibles, toys, or even a literal flag. Celebrating the things you love in pop culture is a rewarding experience as a fan, and Metro Detroit is giving you that opportunity with plenty of geek-centric events throughout the fall. So get your cosplay ready and head out to these pop culture events in the D!

Monroe Popfest (9/14)

Formerly the Monroe Comic-Con, the Monroe Popfest returns to Monroe for more awesome guests, great art, comic books, food trucks and so much more. This year’s guest lineup includes “Halloween” and “X-Men” actor Tyler Mane, artist James O’Barr, voice actor Amber Nash, and WWE wrestler Barbie Blank. You can find tickets as well as photo and autograph opportunities on the event’s website.

Great Lakes Comic Expo (9/28)

The fall edition of the Great Lakes Comic Expo comes to Madison Place in Madison Heights for a day of buying and selling collectibles. The event features rare comics, toys, art and a live auction at 4:45 p.m. The event also supports Reading is Fundamental, the largest children’s literacy nonprofit organization in the United States, whose goal is to give children access to books and discover the joys and value of reading.

International Marine City Comic Con (9/28)

The fourth annual Marine City Comic Con returns to downtown Marine City on Saturday, September 28. This year’s festivities will take place along the Marine City Nautical Mile and St. Clair River with plenty of vendors, attractions, special guests, and cosplay. Zombie Walk (10/5)

Jackson will be a little more spooky than normal when the Zombie Walk roams through on Saturday, October 4. The “Game of Thrones” themed walk begins at the Commonwealth Commerce Center where you can participate in a geek-centric walk through the streets. Cosplay is not required, but is encouraged! Jackson Toy Show (11/2)

Celebrating its 15th year, the Jackson Toy Show returns this November to the Jackson Fairgrounds. The event will feature over 240 tables of rare toys, action figures, comics, sports cards, antique toys and much more.
