Whether you’re a local heading to a favorite festival or a visitor for the holiday, these events offer a fantastic way to celebrate Independence Day. From fireworks to carnivals and more, there’s entertainment for everyone. Here are some of the top fireworks shows happening across the Metro Detroit area…
HURON-CLINTON METROPARK
June 28 – July 2
The Huron-Clinton Metroparks hosts some of the best fireworks displays in Southeast Michigan. Willow Metropark, Kensington Metropark, and Stony Creek Metropark offer a perfect setting for picnics, outdoor activities, and enjoying the beauty of nature before the fireworks begin at dusk. “It’s one of Southeast Michigan’s favorite traditions: The Huron-Clinton Metroparks fireworks displays, and it brings together so much fun and excitement. Gather with family, friends, or neighbors – over picnics and under the stars – to enjoy this celebration of our American Independence. Enjoy the park amenities and entertainment before the fireworks at dusk,” shares Hilary Simmet, Interim Chief of Marketing and Communications. Stony Creek’s show is first on June 28th, with Willow’s on July 1st, and Kensington’s on July 2nd. Spend the day basking in the sun, out by the water, and finish it off with a spectacular show.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP INDEPENDENCE FEST

The Independence Fest in Independence Township is a full day of fun for the whole family, held at Clintonwood Park. “We are Independence Township Parks, Recreation & Seniors, and we provide programs, activities, resources, and events for families and residents of all ages. We’d love to see you at Independence Fest on June 29!” says Amy Laboissonniere, Community Relations Coordinator. The fun-filled day kicks off at 11 a.m. with activities ranging from inflatables for kids, a military museum, a classic car display, spray park fun, live music, and much more. “It’s our Nation’s birthday and you can celebrate it close to home. Purchase tasty goodies on-site, including many of your carnival favorites, shop local crafters, and watch awesome live entertainment. Fun for the entire family, plus part of this local hometown tradition is spending time with your neighbors! Bring lawn chairs and blankets for your comfort and enjoy one of the best parts of our community, Clintonwood Park! Stay through the evening and enjoy the awesome fireworks display!” Parking is available nearby, with Everest Academy and Clarkston High School offering shuttle services. The rain date is set for June 30th.

The Cars Under the Stars Fireworks Spectacular is back for its 7th year, offering an evening of live entertainment, food trucks, craft beer, family activities, and of course, fireworks! Known for its car-themed events, the M1 Concourse combines its track with a breathtaking firework display. Grab a ticket to park on-site, whether trackside or in the arena for stunning views from the comfort of your vehicle.
ALGONAC LIONS CLUB

The Algonac Lions Club hosts a community favorite with its annual Pickerel Tournament Festival. Set against the backdrop of the St. Clair River, this multi-day event offers a stunning visual experience. Before the fireworks, families can enjoy a variety of activities, including carnival games, food stalls, beer tents, parades, and live entertainment. From classic car shows to photo contests, this event draws in a crowd. Now in its 86th year, this festival is a family favorite, offering the ability to watch the stunning fireworks displays right along the river.
CLAWSON FIREWORKS

Clawson’s Annual Fireworks is a beloved event, drawing crowds from all over the area. Known for its vibrant display, the event is a perfect way for families to celebrate the 4th of July. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a good spot and enjoy the pre-fireworks festivities, which include live music and food vendors. During July 3rd and 4th, the area will have carnival attractions, an arts & crafts fair, and more, with the 4th consisting of a parade, race, contests, and of course, fireworks to conclude the festivities.
