Who doesn’t love an adventure? It’s safe to say people of all ages can appreciate a fun experience, which is why you need to visit one of the Metro Detroit adventure facilities. Whether you’re going for a cool family outing with the kids, or just simply want to explore on your own or with a friend, these are great places to check out.

Outdoor Adventure Center

The Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) is located on Detroit’s riverfront and features amazing displays and over 20 exhibits that truly enchant the imagination. Most of the exhibits here are equipped with simulators that allow visitors to experience an outdoor activity from inside of the adventure center. This includes citizen science, kayaking, fishing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, hunting, flying in an airplane, witnessing Michigan’s freshwater sand dunes, and more. Now, for the exhibits that are not stimulations. We have an indoor waterfall that you can walk behind and touch, which flows into a cave with a pond, an aquarium displaying Michigan’s fish species, and an archery range. The OAC also goes the extra mile to educate their visitors about everything seen inside, and how they assist in monitoring and protecting Michigan’s wildlife and habitats. They also host parties and events, and offer free admission on the last Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The price of admission is $5 for people 13 to 61 years old, $3 for children two to 12 years old and adults over 61 years old, and free for children under two years old. There’s also the option to purchase an annual family membership for $50. To learn more, follow the OAC on Facebook, @DNR Outdoor Adventure Center.

TreeRunner Adventure Park

Here, visitors can enjoy a variety of aerial trails, along with the fresh smell and sight of nature. TreeRunner Adventure Park has over 250 aerial obstacle courses, which include 45 zip lines with four difficulty levels, to make it a real challenge or simple outdoor fun. There’s the junior park as well, exclusive to the West Bloomfield location, with courses much closer to the ground that are made especially for children four to seven years old. Not to mention, the 18-hole miniature golf course will be available starting this month, also at the West Bloomfield location. It’s placed underneath the aerial courses, giving players the opportunity to watch the excitement from below. The hours vary, depending on the season, and tickets range from $28 to $59.

With locations throughout West Bloomfield and Rochester Hills, TreeRunner Adventure Park is ideally accessible for Metro Detroiters all over. For more information, follow TreeRunner Adventure Park on Instagram and Facebook @Treerunnerwestbloomfield and @Treerunnerrochester.

Urban Air Adventure Park

There’s so much to do at Urban Air Adventure Park, making this the perfect place for a day of fun. In addition to their popular APEX trampolines, which allow people to literally bounce off the walls, there’s an adventure hub with rope courses and playground tubes, dodgeball, rock climbing, a wipeout-themed obstacle course, bumper cars, virtual reality systems, and more. Also, there’s laser tag, an arcade, and more, available only at the Oxford location. Of course, recharging will be necessary after all that jumping and moving, which can be done at their cafe. The hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. The tickets range from $11.99 to $37.49.
