Attention procrastinators! Valentine’s Day is mere hours away, and you know what that means. If the lady in your life typically appreciates the finer things in life, she may be grateful for something sparkly to be presented to her on February 14. In that case, you’ll likely find yourself at a jewelry store faced with the dilemma of what to buy. Allow me to offer some advice.

You could buy her one of those charm bracelets that people seem to fawn over, but would she really forget her trip to Hawaii, her dog, or the fact that she graduated college without a palm tree, puppy and diploma, respectively, hanging from her wrist? Why not instead visit somewhere like Delta Diamond in Plymouth, where you can purchase custom designed pieces, like amethyst earrings, jasper pendants, or rose quartz bracelets. Sure, you may not be able to give it to her tomorrow, but better late than never.

Unless your girlfriend is around the age of 16, she probably won’t appreciate a promise ring, so stay away from those. Giving a woman over the age of 21 a promise ring is essentially a slap in the face, since she’s likely expecting the real thing. Which leads me to…

The engagement ring. For those of you out there who think it’s super romantic to propose on Valentine’s Day, there’s a 99.9 percent chance that you already have the ring at this point. This isn’t the type of thing you do last minute! Just remember, a diamond is forever.

Enough room for your pets. Enough room for everything they need. See why Suburban is perfect for you… and your four-legged friends.

Speaking of all things sparkly, diamond earrings are a hot commodity when it comes to Valentine’s Day gifts. You’d think that with their simple appearance, tiny studs wouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg. You’d be wrong. For something a little more original, take a trip to Stones in West Bloomfield, where you can design a custom piece of jewelry. In addition to designing new rings, earrings and bracelets, they can reconstruct old ones. If she has a family ring that needs revamping and modernizing, now’s the time!

Lastly, the ever popular Valentine’s Day gift item: heart shaped jewelry of any kind, most notably a heart shaped pendant. Other items that fall into this category include, but are not limited to, any sort of lock and key necklace or locket. Which are somewhat boring. Want to be original? Try this anatomically correct heart necklace instead. Under $40 with free shipping. Boom.

Don’t forget to include a heartfelt greeting card with your gift purchase. Happy Valentine’s Day!
