As the winter chill begins to thaw, Metro Detroit blossoms with a diverse array of events in March, celebrating everything from culinary arts to scientific explorations. March is particularly notable for celebrating Women’s History Month and offers a plethora of activities and experiences that cater to a wide range of interests. From family-friendly learning and weekend shopping to tasting dinners and night-out ideas, let’s dive into some of the most anticipated events happening around the Metro Detroit area this March…

WOMEN FOR WOMEN SMALL BUSINESS SHOWCASE

March 9

Triple Threat Studios’ Women for Women Small Business showcase is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and supporters of local entrepreneurs. Shop with local vendors, offering items ranging from Indigenous artwork to permanent jewelry, make a floral bouquet at a flower station, and have time out with friends. “Who are we? Three women artists who are dedicated to supporting and showcasing other female artists and entrepreneurs in the Detroit area. Our mission is to build a community that prioritizes the support of female artists and entrepreneurs,” shares one member of the trio, Naomi Cavanaugh. Their Women for Women showcase is an exemplary celebration of female creativity and entrepreneurship, perfect for Women’s History Month, and is free to attend. MAPLEFEST

March 9 – 10

28115 Meadowbrook Road, Novi

Are you obsessed with maple syrup? Interested in learning about how sap becomes syrup and enjoying some pure maple syrup? Check out the Tollgate Farm and Education Center’s Maplefest. This event is a sweet treat for all ages, offering a chance to learn about and taste authentic maple syrup. This indoor and outdoor experience takes you to identify and tap a maple tree, tour the sugar shack, taste sap, syrup, and sugar, and learn about maple tools and technology. FERNDALE PROJECT

Ferndale Project is celebrating its 4th anniversary throughout March by changing things up and offering lagers for the first time. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD

Broadway in Detroit brings Harper Lee’s classic, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” to life on stage. This gripping tale, known for its profound narrative and moral depth, promises to be a theatrical experience that will resonate with all audiences. Performances on this tour include evening shows Tuesdays through Sundays, with matinees on the weekends. PASSPORT TO WINE SERIES

Andiamo is presenting its Passport to Wine series with wine and food tastings inspired by beloved movies throughout the next few months. These events are an invitation to explore the world through meals based on different films. For March, the three-course meal is inspired by Chef (2014) and will transport you to Cuba with a Mojo Pork Cubano course. The movies won’t be screened at the events but will be discussed along with learning and laughs throughout the evening.
