MHSAA State Championship Match-Ups Are Set!

The MHSAA State Championship match-ups are set with 16 teams on their way to Ford Field.  The past four months of hard work, determination, and mental toughness have paid off for these teams that will be battling it out this weekend in Downtown Detroit.

The headliner will be the Division 1 game featuring a rematch of last year’s championship game – Detroit Cass Tech vs. Detroit Catholic Central.  The Shamrocks will look for revenge from the Technicians at 1 p.m. on Saturday from their 49-13 defeat last year.

Division 2 will include the reigning champ, Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice, when it takes on Muskegon Friday at 1 p.m.

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s will make it’s 4th appearance at Ford Field and attempt to win consecutive championships by squaring off against Grand Rapids Christian. The Eaglets and Eagles will take the field at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Division 4 is featuring the Sailors of Grand Rapids South vs. the Yellow Jackets of Detroit Country Day.  Grand Rapids South hasn’t been to the finals in over a decade. The kick-off will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Portland will square off against Grand Rapids West Catholic on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. for the Division 5 crown.  The Raiders have 12 wins on the season while the Falcons rallied off 9 wins in a row to make it to this point.

The Division 6 title game features another rematch of last year that includes Ithaca vs. Constantine.  The Yellow Jackets won last year’s game over the Falcons, 42-14, and have won 42 consecutive games.

Undefeated Detroit Loyola will meet with Ishpeming in the Division 7 championship game at 10 a.m. on Saturday.  The Hematites will look to stop the strong rushing attack of the Bull Dogs.

Division 8 will include a first time match-up with, Beal City vs. Harbor Beach.  The Aggies and Pirates will kick off at 10 a.m. on Friday.
