An autumn staple here in the Mitten is the Michigan Renaissance Festival. It is about that time, and the festival returns this weekend in Holly!

The festival is in its 37th year of bringing 16th century culture to the present and features a variety of activities, theme weekends, entertainment and more. Entertainment is featured on 17 different stages, as well as on interactive levels.

As mentioned, there are several theme weekends throughout the festival. This weekend is Royal Pet & Ale Fest, which features pet entertainment, a cutest dog costume contest, pet vendors and a Craft Beer Conservatoire (additional $55 a person). Other themes include High Seas Adventure, Shamrocks & Shenanigans, Sweet Endings and more.

In addition, there is entertainment galore throughout the 17-acre village. You’ll find jesters, peasants, queens, knights, horses and more all in one place. Jousting, juggling, mermaids, gypsies, live music, comedy and much more are all highlights of the fair. There is something for every taste, with a little bit of flavor from the early modern period.

From transporting food and goods to having enough room for pets and family, owning the right SUV is essential for pet owners. See the available features that make the Chevy Tahoe a pet lover's dream.

If you’re still not sold, maybe the artisan booths offering costume rentals, hats, handbags, face paint, footwear and hair garlands will change your mind. Some of the delicious food options include croissant donuts, stuffed chicken thighs, gourmet hot dogs, barbecue pork sandwiches and apple dumplings. There are gluten free options as well.

It starts tomorrow and runs each weekend through Sunday, Oct. 4. It will also be open on Labor Day and on Friday, Oct. 2 for Festival Friday. Hours are from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day.

Consider this article just a preview for all the fun to be had at the Michigan Renaissance Festival this year. If you have not attended it in the past, or are looking forward to its return, it would be in your best interest to check it out!
