The Chevy Trax is the perfect partner for finding balance and exploring wherever your day leads.
While many of us have witnessed the rare sight of a hot air balloon in flight, not many people can say they have had the opportunity to take a ride in one. With an experienced guide piloting the balloon, you get to enjoy scenic views from high above the ground. Whether you’re planning a special occasion, a celebration, or just want to check an item off your bucket list, these businesses across the state offer hot air balloon rides that you’ll be talking about for years to come.
1310 Maple Street, Plymouth
Westwind Balloon Company offers sunrise and sunset flights over Kensington Park, Island Lake State Park, or other locations around Michigan. You’ll be able to see the woods and natural beauty from above. Pilot Scott Lorenz has logged more than 1,650 hours in flight and has flown over Niagara Falls, The Great Wall of China, and Disney World, just to name a few.

The Chevy Trax is the perfect partner for finding balance and exploring wherever your day leads.
Sky Adventures is open all year but their busy season is April through November. They offer flights on weekday evenings and weekend mornings due to unpredictable wind patterns during midday. Sky Adventures is a complete ballooning center, which not only includes flights but pilot training as well. After every flight is a champagne (or sparkling juice) celebration at Red Knapps American Grill.
Michigan Balloon Corporation primarily flies out of locations in and around Kalamazoo, Michigan. Each flight is different depending on the wind and conditions, but you can expect it to last approximately one hour from takeoff to landing. The total time from inflation to the return is about three hours. Whether you choose a sunrise or a sunset flight, you can expect the requisite champagne toast upon landing.
2470 Grange Hall Road, Fenton
Balloon Quest Inc. has been in business for more than 50 years as one of Michigan’s favorite ballooning services, and one of the oldest in the nation. They offer flights seven days a week and all year long, weather permitting. Each flight is between 45 minutes to one hour and allows you to see lakes, woodlands, and countryside. Upon landing, you’ll participate in the traditional champagne (or juice) toast, and receive a “First Flight” certificate and a souvenir to mark the occasion.
South Lyon
Majestic Adventures, LLC offers private hot air balloon flights with pilot Steve Miller out of the South Lyon area. The whole adventure takes about three hours from start to finish. You’ll ascend to 1,000 feet in the air and enjoy views of the landscape and the Detroit city skyline. Then, you’ll descend to treetop level where you can grab a leaf from a tree, or you might get your toes wet during a “splash and dash” in one of the area lakes.
