Patriotism, fireworks, and plenty of BBQ will surely be on display over the next week as Metro Detroit gears up for Independence Day. The holiday is perfect for communities to come together and to celebrate our country, and plenty of Metro Detroit communities are doing just that. If you’re still looking to solidify your 4th of July plans, check out these events taking place over the next week.

Huron-Clinton Metroparks Fireworks (6/30-7/3)

The Huron-Clinton Metroparks will be putting on four firework displays leading up to the 4th of July Holiday. Festivities will kick off at Stony Creek Metropark on Sunday, June 30, with Willow Metropark, Hudson Mills Metropark, and Lake Erie Metropark hosting their shows each of the following nights. Last year saw over 60,000 people attend over the four days, so be sure to get there early!

Stars and Stripes Festival (6/30-7/4)

The Stars and Stripes Festival, one of the biggest Independence Day celebrations in Metro Detroit, returns to the grounds of the Suburban Collection Showplace starting on Sunday, June 30. Live music, carnival midway, arts and crafts, food trucks, and 4th of July fireworks await you at this free festival. The event’s Facebook page is sure to be busy this week with updates and photos of this year’s event!

Oakland County Boat Club Fireworks (7/3)

The annual fireworks display hosted by the Oakland County Boat Club will take place on Wednesday, July 3. A community tradition since the late 1940s, the fireworks will be shot from a barge in the middle of the Sylvan Lake. The fireworks are also visible from the Sylvan Lake Community Center and you find parking and more information on their website.

Clawson 4th of July (7/4)

The Clawson 4th of July celebration has been a city tradition since 1933, and this year’s fun will include an art fair, parade, and of course fireworks. Downtown Clawson will feature a 5K run, parade, and fireworks show at dusk on the 4th of July holiday. Clarkston Independence Fest (7/4)

Celebrate the 4th of July holiday with your family at the Clarkston Independence Fest on the 4th of July. Festivities begin with the Independence Day Parade in Downtown Clarkston, followed by a Veterans Celebration, craft show, dog frisbee competition, carnival games for kids, and a fireworks show at 10 p.m. all at Clintonwood Park.
