Now that Thanksgiving is over and the month of November is coming to a close, it is time to turn our attention to December. It certainly is one of the busiest months of the year for a lot of families, but there are also plenty of great events happening throughout the month to help get your mind off the chaos. Here are five metro Detroit events to check out this December.
The Care House of Macomb County will be hosting their 20th annual Christmas for Kids event on December 1. The fundraiser will take place at the Historic Packard Proving Grounds in Shelby Township and will feature food from the finest restaurants, beverages from spirit distributors, live music, auctions, and raffle packages. All proceeds will go to Care House who provides services to child victims of abuse.
The Metro Times will be hosting FLAVOR, a celebration of the local culinary and drink scene, on December 8. Over 20 leading Detroit-area restaurants will feature their best food, beer, wine, cocktails, and more. The event takes place at the Garden Theater and general admission is $30.
For those looking to celebrate the season with fine dining rather than festive celebrations, Of the Earth Table d’hote at the Rust Belt Market on December 10 is the perfect event for you. The Rust Belt Market, Komodo Kitchen, and Woodberry Wine will host an evening of exceptional food and drink. With three exotic courses, plus five wine pairings from all over the world, the event is sure to satisfy anyone’s food palette. Vegetarian options are available.

The Royal Oak Farmers Market will be hosting Holiday Spirits on Friday, December 16. The 21 and over event will feature festive cocktails and live entertainment for those looking for a fun night out the week before Christmas. Be sure to grab your tickets before they sell out.
Campus Martius will be hosting Winter Magic throughout the month of December. Events began back in November, but there are still plenty of worthy weekend left! Remaining weekend themes include Southern Spirits on December 2 and 3, Feliz Navidad on December 9 and 10, and Home for the Holidays on December 16 and 17. Tickets for these events are $20 in advance and all begin at 7 p.m.
