Ah, reunions.

No, I’m not talking about your high school or college reunion. I’m talking about a plain-old reunion of close friends that happens to take place just about every year on the night before Thanksgiving. You know, when a lot of people return home to their old stomping grounds to check in on the parental units and, as the cliche goes, hopefully make it through the weekend.

If you’re looking for a bit of an escape or an excuse to cut loose and have some fun with your friends before you spend the rest of the holiday with family, keep these Thanksgiving Eve parties in metro Detroit in mind.

Drinksgiving with B. Nektar

The Ferndale home of mead, cider and beer will be throwing a party on the eve of Thanksgiving complete with live music from DJs and jam bands. Malik Alston and Badriyyah Wazeerud-Din will be bringing their unique mix of jazz, fusion and house music to the party. The recently-formed jam band Gus Greenleaf will also be there. Plus, DJs Brian Lukacs and Bee Hill will be spinning tables. If you’ve been looking for a very limited edition brew from B. Nektar, this is your chance! Limited quantities of Apple Pi with Crust 2017, Dread Pirate Paul and more will be available for purchase.

The Silverado is the official sponsor of your next home improvement project.

Danny J’s Tipsy Turkey Thanksgiving Eve Party

Danny J’s in Utica is going to be celebrating from noon until 3 a.m. on November 22. Drink specials will be available all day, like $3 domestic beers and well drinks, $4-5 cocktails and $5 house wine. $6 appetizers, like spinach and artichoke dip, chicken wings, and cheeseburgers, will also be available.

3rd Annual “Twerky” Day Party

If you can shake it like the best of them, Allenton Tavern is where you’ll want to be on November 22. Of course, there will be plenty of drink specials, but the pièce de résistance is the twerking competition. Every year a “Twerky Day” King & Queen are crowned and, last year, the men apparently showed the women how it’s done. Can you twerk it?

Night Before Thanksgiving Bash w/ Five Pound Snap & Dude

Known as the Belgian center of Detroit, Cadieux Cafe will be holding a Thanksgiving Eve bash with music provided by four-piece groove band Five Pound Snap and four-piece pop-rock band DUDE. If steamed mussels, Belgian beer and rockin’ tunes are your jam, find yourself at Cadieux Cafe on November 22. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Whatcha Really Really Want

If you’re looking to flashback to the 90s, Magic Stick in downtown Detroit is hosting “Whatcha Really Really Want” on November 22 and 8 p.m. Expect DJs playing pop and hip-hop music from the 90s and hosting duties performed by Dennis Haskins, A.K.A. “Mr. Belding” from Saved by the Bell! There’s no cover charge, but you must be 18 or older.

Remember to drink responsibly and plan ahead with a designated driver or take advantage of one of these local designated driving services.
