We’re starting off pretty shrimple…I mean simple. Just about everyone loves a good burger and if you’re a shrimp-lover, you’ll wonder why you never thought of this before. At Taqueria El Rey, the shrimp burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onions & avocados. Served with fries, this is one delicious mash-up.
Next to cocktail sauce, garlic might be the next best thing to happen to shrimp. Now, how about turning that idea into a pizza? That’s exactly what the folks over at Amar Pizza in Hamtramck and Fraser have done with their Dry Fish Pizza: dried shrimp, roasted garlic, onions & cilantro with a spicy fish paste sauce.
Located in Detroit, this taco shop has a short, but varied selection of tacos. The one we’re interested in right now is the blackened shrimp taco: spicy, seasoned shrimp with avocado, red onions, cilantro, shredded cheese, chipotle sour cream & pico de gallo. How does that not sound amazing? And, if you’re downtown, they might even deliver to you.
As the only shrimp salad on the list, this one is especially reserved for those who might be a little more health conscious. The Yum Ta-Le salad at Sala Thai in Eastern Market contains shrimp, squid, mussels, green onions, lemon grass, bell peppers and lime juice, making the calorie-counting, shrimp-lover happy.
La Feria in Detroit specializes in tapas, or small plates, and one we have our eyes on is the gambas a la parilla: skewered grilled shrimp, lemon, garlic, olive oil and parsley. And, if you’re looking for an appetizing appetizer that is gluten-free, the gambas a la parilla is perfect.
