It’s hard enough to find the motivation to work out during any given day, so when you throw in subzero temperatures, getting up to get active can really be a tough pill to swallow. For that reason, we wanted to provide you with some ways to spice up your activity that aren’t your traditional treadmill and dumbbell routine.

Zumba

If you’re looking to have fun during your next workout session, look no further than a Zumba class. Combining the beats of Latin and World music with the intensity of a workout session, Zumba will have you moving and grooving during a class. There are plenty of fitness centers in metro Detroit that offer Zumba classes including Costick Activities Center, Elements of Exercise, and Nafas Fitness in Royal Oak.

Local Runs

You might think of participating in a local run as a spring or summer activity, but surprisingly there are numerous winter runs you can partake in. Running a race is always better with a friend to help keep you motivated, so enlist a buddy and get signed up! Livonia has a weekly free 5K timed run if you live in the area. The Paczki Run will take place on February 25 at Wheelhouse Detroit and the Fight for Air Climb fundraising run will take place on February 26, just to name a few.

Bikram Yoga

Bikram Yoga has become a worldwide phenomenon and has a solid presence in the metro Detroit area. The unique form of yoga teaches you 26 posture sequences in a room that is heated to at least 105 degrees. You can take Bikram Yoga classes all over metro Detroit. Check out these in Ferndale, Troy, and at the Yoga Shelter in Royal Oak.

Adventure starts with a vehicle that’s up for anything. Trailblazer combines comfort you want, the versatility you need, and the technology to make every moment count.
