8 Events Happening This April in the D

They say March comes in like a lion, out like a lamb. Well, with the recent weather we’ve been having, we cannot wait for the lamb. No matter what type of weather April may bring, this list of fun local events happening this month will bring plenty of light to even the dreariest of days.

Halfpipe in the Fisher (April 3-6)

The historic Fisher Building will be featuring the Fisher Halfpipe starting on April 3 and going through April 6. The halfpipe symbolizes “skating as a cross-culture platform” and is open to all skateboarders.

Great Lakes Art Fair (April 7-9)

The ninth annual Great Lakes Art Fair will feature over 190 local artists and displays, live art demonstrations, and great bistro-style food. There will also be special events happening throughout the weekend.

Livingston County Home & Garden Show (April 7-9)

More than 200 exhibits will be on display at this year’s Livingston County Home and Garden Show. Taking place at the Howell High School Field House, the showcase will help you find the latest in home improvements, gardens, and decor.

Detroit x Detroit VII (April 22)

The Loving Touch in Ferndale will be holding its seventh annual Detroit x Detroit VII on April 22. The event will showcase more than a dozen local area bands. Check out their Facebook page for the full lineup.

Motor City Nightmares (April 28-30)

Boo! That probably didn’t scare you, but if you are into being scared then you should head to the Motor City Nightmares horror expo and film festival in Novi. It’s jam packed weekend with a bunch of special guests.

Midwest Media Expo (April 28-30)

Returning for its fourth year, the Midwest Media Expo has become one of the more popular pop-culture extravaganzas in the area. The convention covers all levels of geekdom in television, film, video games, comics, gaming, and much more.

VegFest (April 30)

Michigan’s largest vegan taste festival and expo will feature more than 150 restaurants and vendors. This year will have cooking demonstrations, family activities, and veg speed dating.
