Spending the night under the starry summer sky at a concert is easily one of the most romantic dates out there. Something about the Michigan summer air, good music, and being with a significant other just makes the night memorable. There are plenty of outdoor music venues in metro Detroit that can offer this type of experience, but some of the venues can offer an even better experience based on the bars and restaurants in the area or even what the venue has to offer. So if you have a ticket to an upcoming concert, or are looking for romantic date night options, here’s how you can make your experience even more memorable at these five southeast Michigan outdoor venues.
Located on Oakland University’s campus in Rochester, Meadow Brook Amphitheatre has the advantage of being in the middle of a college atmosphere. There’s plenty of great bars like Red Ox, Duffy’s Pub, and Tapper’s Pub where you can try your hand at karaoke after losing your voice at the concert. If you don’t have time to hit up the bars before the show, Grasshoppers Outdoor Eatery and Rustic Bar also has plenty of drink options for you to enjoy right inside the venue.
Part of Freedom Hill County Park in Sterling Heights, the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre has been providing Macomb County with some of the top touring talents every summer since 2000. If you have tickets to one of the upcoming shows, you can make the night complete by visiting Great Baraboo Brewing Company beforehand. The brewery has a wide range of handcrafted beers on tap and you can enjoy Happy Hour specials until 6 p.m. right before you head out to the concert.
One of the most popular amphitheatres in not only Michigan but in the country, DTE Energy Music Theatre is arguably where the biggest talents come for outdoor concerts in Michigan. With amenities such as the Bud Light Pavilion and The Pine Tap beer garden, you won’t have to go far for drinks and a meal before or during the show. If you need a place after the show to quench your thirst or settle those hunger pangs, Hamlin Pub is the place to grab a cold drink and a fresh sandwich.

Located in the heart of Detroit, Chene Park Amphitheatre offers not only a great 6,000-seat land experience, but with its waterfront location, you can also enjoy a concert from the water. Concerts off the water are automatically both romantic and beautiful, but you can also make the night even more romantic with a stroll down the Detroit RiverFront.
The Chevrolet Rockin’ on the Riverfront concert series has been a Detroit summer staple for many years now, and it can make for a rockin’ good date night! Like Chene Park, you can enjoy a stroll on the RiverFront or dine at a fine downtown Detroit Restaurant like the Townhouse Detroit or London Chop House.
All five of these locations offer opportunities to make for a great date night, so whether you already have your tickets or there’s a great show you’d love to take your S.O. to, be sure to take advantage of everything the venue and the area have to offer.
