A Little Slice of Heaven in the D!

The holidays are all about togetherness, peace on earth and, if we’re being honest, food. Now’s the time to gorge yourself at the dinner table (somewhat) guilt free, before the New Year begins and you put yourself on a strict diet regimen.

Before said diet begins, get your pie fix. You could spend your precious moments in the kitchen baking one, or you could let a bakery do the work for you and spend the time you saved doing something else. Like eating pie.

Luckily for us, Metro Detroit has several pie bakeries to suit your every need. Whether you’re craving fruit pie, cream pie or savory pie, you’ll find what you’re looking for at one of the following:

Achatz Handmade Pie Co. has eight locations sprinkled throughout the Metro Detroit area and serves handmade pies by real bakers—no assembly line here! With fewer than 10 ingredients in their fruit pies, rest assured that you’re getting a quality product. Flavors like Michigan 4-Berry, Cookies & Cream and Pumpkin Crumb can be ordered online or picked up at one of several retail stores.

Adventure starts with a vehicle that’s up for anything. Trailblazer combines comfort you want, the versatility you need, and the technology to make every moment count.

Sweet Potato Sensations, located in Detroit, specializes in all things sweet potato (shocker!). I, personally, am a huge sweet potato fan, and I would be happy to have any of the items from their menu on my table this holiday. Original Sweet Potato, Sweet Potato Pecan and Sweet Potato Coconut pies are available, as well as tarts in the same flavors. Sampling a tiny bit of each is reasonable, right? Okay, good.

Zingerman’s Bakehouse of Ann Arbor has plenty of options to pick from to complete your holiday feast. Their Cranberry Walnut Pie was named one of the “top mail order pies in the country” by Good Housekeeping. It’s only available through the end of December, so don’t miss out! Other seasonal flavors include Perky Pecan Pie, Jumbleberry Pie and Chocolate Chess Pie.

This holiday season, in between caroling and gift shopping, make sure you order a pie for at least one (or two, or six) of your celebrations!
