In the dead of winter, some of us wish to stay inside until springtime, venturing outdoors for only the necessities like going to work and running to the grocery store. Get ready to add one more task to your “to do” list: Ann Arbor Restaurant Week!

Held Sunday, Jan. 17 through Friday, Jan. 22, Ann Arbor Restaurant Week is a six-day event that allows diners to experience the best bars and restaurants the area has to offer. Best of all, it’s a great deal!

Each of the participating 53 restaurants will offer $15 lunches and three course dinners for $28. Some restaurants will even include two-for-one pricing (see each individual menu for details).

This year, Ann Arbor Restaurant Week is partnering with Food Gatherers, the food rescue program and food bank for Washtenaw County.

From soccer practice to grocery runs, the Chevy Trailblazer is designed to make your everyday outings a breeze.

“Given the nature of our event, all about food, it only made sense to partner with an organization that fights hunger in our community,” Maura Thomson, executive director of Ann Arbor’s Main Street Area Association, said.

Participating restaurants will offer an additional item on their restaurant week menus, available as an add-on purchase, and proceeds from that dish will go directly to Food Gatherers.

Restaurants participating in the winter edition of Ann Arbor Restaurant Week include Aventura, Bigalora, Blue Tractor, Café Zola, Gandy Dancer, Grange Kitchen & Bar, Grizzly Peak, Guy Hollerin’s, Jamaican Jerk Pit, Jolly Pumpkin, Neopapalis, Pacific Rim, Real Seafood Company, Slurping Turtle, Vinology and more.

“I believe the entire metro Detroit area is full of people who really appreciate and expect good food… I am always proud to talk about the wide range of ethnicities that are represented in our culinary community,” Thomson said about the city of Ann Arbor.

From Thai food at Marnee to barbecue at Old Carolina to Mexican cuisine at Prickly Pear, there’s a little something for everyone. This year, there are three new restaurants participating in Restaurant Week: eve, Nagomi and aMa Bistro.

“The Ann Arbor food scene is simply not to be missed, and if you haven’t experienced it, Ann Arbor Restaurant Week is the time to do it,” Thomson said. “And it’s the middle of January in Michigan—we all need an excuse to get out the door!”
