Duck Wings, Lamb & Risotto at Beer & Wine Dinners in the D

There’s nothing greater than a dinner out in metro Detroit. If you’re looking to spice up the occasional meal out, consider a beer or wine dinner, where you not only get to enjoy fabulous cuisine, but several rounds of local beer or wine.

Choose one of the following beer or wine dinners below occurring in Metro Detroit in the coming weeks:

Rochester Tap Room

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, join the restaurant and public house for a five-course Bell’s Brewery dinner. Dishes prepared by chef Travis Waynick include Toasted Farro Risotto, Barbecue Pork Sushi Roll and Butternut Squash Candy Bars.

Beer pairings consist of Hopslam Double IPA, Wild One Wild Ale and Sweet Potato Stout. The meal costs $45 per person and reservations can be made by calling 248-650-2500.

Karl’s Cabin

The same evening, Plymouth’s cozy eatery hosts a six-course Michigan-made beer dinner with Short’s Brewing Company. Diners can expect succulent dishes like Pork Belly Satay, Roasted Beet Salad and Butterscotch Pudding.

Beer pairings include Huma-Lupa-Licious, Queen Bee and Evil Urges. Brian Talpos of Short’s Brewing Company will be present to answer any questions you have while sampling. The meal costs $59 and seating begins at 6 p.m.

Vast Kitchen & Bar

A Shelby Township restaurant with a modern and traditional menu, Vast presents a five-course Bell’s Brewery dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Upon arrival, you’re greeted with an introductory Amber Ale, followed by the likes of Beer Cheese Dip, Crispy Duck Wings and Braised Short Ribs.

Each is served with a Bell’s brew, including Two Hearted Ale, Hell Hath No Fury Ale and Double Cream Stout. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. and costs $65 per person.

Big Rock Chop House

One of the area’s best steakhouses, Big Rock of Birmingham is the definition of fine dining. Enjoy the Cakebread Cellars Wine Dinner here on Thursday, Feb. 25.

The four-course meal prepared by executive chef Gabby Milton includes a reception course of oysters and charcuterie, followed by plates of Chilled King Crab, Colorado Lamb and Dark Chocolate Pot De Crème.

Wine pairings accompany each entrée, and guest speaker Bruce Bruckman will be on hand to answer questions about the California winery. The meal begins at 6:30 p.m. and costs $150 per person.
