From soccer practice to grocery runs, the Chevy Trailblazer is designed to make your everyday outings a breeze.
If you’re part of the 21 and up crowd in Michigan, chances are you’re a fan of the state’s craft beer scene. There’s nothing quite like kicking back on a hot summer evening with an Oberon or Summertime Ale in hand.
While Grand Rapids was recently labeled the nation’s “Beer Capital,” the Detroit area has plenty to offer when it comes to craft beer, too. In fact, we’ve got an entire month-long celebration dedicated to Metro Detroit’s best breweries and pubs.
Detroit Craft Beer Month runs from Saturday, June 1 through Sunday, June 30. The extravaganza will feature daily events at various Metro Detroit locations, showcasing the best craft beer around.
Just to give you an idea, participating venues include: O’Tooles, Tom’s Oyster Bar, Motor City Brewing Works, Atwater Brewery, Fifth Avenue, One Eyed Betty’s, Bagger Daves and many more.
From soccer practice to grocery runs, the Chevy Trailblazer is designed to make your everyday outings a breeze.
There are anywhere between one and seven DCBM events occurring every day somewhere in the area, so you’re likely to find one or two to attend close to home.
On Saturday, June 8, head to Dooley’s Irish Tavern, 32500 Gratiot Ave., Roseville, for “Sampler Saturdays,” featuring $5 sample paddles of craft drafts from open to close.
If you’d prefer to be a bit more active while sampling beer(s), Motor City Brew Tours will offer a Brewery History Bike Tour on Saturday, June 15. Keep in mind; while most DCBM events are free, this one will cost you $30. However, it’ll also get you lunch and two drinks along the way!
Should all of your weekends from here to eternity be booked solid, you can still take part during the week. On Wednesday, June 19, grab your girlfriends and head to E.G. Nicks, 500 Forest Ave., Plymouth, for “Ladies Night with Angry Orchard,” featuring Angry Orchard drink specials all night.
If, like me, you happen to be on a budget, you can still drink a few beers without breaking the bank, I promise. On Tuesday, June 25, Renshaw Lounge, 210 E. 14 Mile Rd., Clawson, will host “Michigan Brew Tuesday,” a daylong event that features all Michigan brew pints for $3. Start saving your pennies now and maybe you can afford more than one!
One of the biggest DCBM events is Summer Beer Fest, which will take place at Detroit’s Campus Martius Park on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22. Tickets are $45 and $70, depending on whether you purchase a one-day or two-day pass. Either way, there will be over 120 craft beers available for tasting, as well as food from local eateries.
Detroit Craft Beer Month is a great opportunity to sample the best hand crafted brews the area has to offer. And since it spans 30 days, you really can’t use the ol’ “I just didn’t have time” excuse, now can you?
