With all the progressive changes occurring at 7 mile and Livernois also known as the Fashion District, it’s only fitting for Brix to move their wine bar there. Brix will be part of a huge development: The B. Siegel Development Project. Owner, Mikiah Westbrooks opened Brix in August of 2017 in her childhood neighborhood of West Village but closed its doors officially a year later.
“I always liked the idea of being in a neighborhood. West Village just didn’t work out the way we had hoped. But it was a really good start. It also let me know that a place like Brix was possible,” say owner Westbrooks.
Westbrooks thought it was time for a change. The new space will be larger than the previous location and come with some new additions. With 1600 square feet at her disposal, Westbrooks is excited to expand the wine selection and focus on events after the move.
“The 7 and Livernois area has been something I have considered for a while. So I am really excited about the move. It’s a really good business district. They have done a wonderful job business wise,” says Wesbrooks. Westbrooks is looking forward to adding value to an already thriving business community. The Fashion District is surrounded by University District, Palmer Woods and Sherwood Forest. So, it is important for Westbrooks to meet the neighborhood with the same business energy. “I am going from one great neighborhood and moving into another great neighborhood. 7 and Liv is surrounded by so many great communities. I think we as a business will benefit from the move as well as the community. As the community is already established and thriving. We really hope to be added value,” Westbrooks say. Brix will be the first wine bar in the area outside of occasional pop up wine events. At this time there is no official date for Brix’s opening, but it is anticipated to be in the fall of 2019.
