Returning for its eighth year, Burger Battle takes over Eastern Market on Sunday, June 23 for burgers, cheeseburgers, and more burgers.

What began as a friendly competition years ago between friends has quickly become one of the top food events of the summer in Metro Detroit. Guests will be able to enjoy all-you-can-eat burgers from 20 of the area’s best chefs for $20, making it a big bang for your buck.

Not only that, but ticket holders will be able to help determine the outcome of the battle. Every ticket holder gets one vote to pick their favorite burger, with the top three vote-getters advancing to the final round of the competition. A winner will then be chosen by a panel of judges made of local celebrities, foodies, and food critics.

This year’s participants include Ready Player One, The Block, Woodbridge Pub, defending champion Frita Batidos and many more. There will be a couple new additions to this year’s event, including a thousand dollar prize to the winning restaurant, a huge video wall, and a special appearance from Roary, the Detroit Lions’ mascot.

One of the event’s producers, Scott Rutterbush from Dine Drink Detroit, said that this event has shown year after year that Metro Detroiters are always searching for the next great burger.

“There are so many successful burger places in Metro Detroit, and we enjoy highlighting that and giving some of those restaurants the stage to showcase their talent,” Rutterbush said.

While burgers are the obvious hook to this year’s Burger Battle, there is still plenty of other entertainment to pair with your appetite. DJ Tom T will be on hand providing music throughout the afternoon. There will also be cornhole, Mega Jenga, Fowling, and a photo booth.

Dine Drink Detroit is responsible for not only Burger Battle, but many of the top food events in Metro Detroit. This summer will see the Taco Showdown on Sunday, July 21, the Meatball Classic on Saturday, August 3, and the Pizza Throwdown on Thursday, August 15.

“The level of excitement Detroiters have for food is always insanely high; whether that be for burgers, tacos, or pizza. We’re looking forward to highlighting some phenomenal restaurants throughout this summer,” Rutterbush said.

You can find tickets to this year’s Burger Battle on the event’s website, along with updated information and tempting burger images on their Facebook page. For more information on everything Dine Drink Detroit has coming up, be sure to visit their website and Facebook page.
