Perhaps the only combination that compares to the classic pairing of burgers and fries is a burger with a shake. Or you can get all three items and win the day; maybe try not to count calories if that is your plan of attack, though. Metro Detroit offers burgers and shakes galore, so here are a few places to try.

Brome Burgers & Shakes

This Dearborn establishment (which just opened in October) offers healthy options. Brome serves fresh, never frozen, organic and all-natural premium beef. The menu offers several kinds of burgers, including the Deluxe, The Mex, the Wild Mushroom and more. Brome also has hand-spun shakes in flavors such as Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel and more.

Little Brothers Burgers

Little Brothers Burgers of Royal Oak offers a variety of burgers, sliders, sandwiches and, of course, shakes. The menu also provides combo meals and several sides to choose from. The quarter-pound Big Bros. Pretzel Burger comes with cheese, onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato and house sauce on a pretzel bun. Shakes and malts such as Butterfinger, Oreo and even Root Beer are available, as well as a Boston Cooler.

Moo Cluck Moo

With locations in both Canton and Dearborn Heights, Moo Cluck Moo is another healthy option. The restaurant uses 100 percent natural burgers, and everything is gluten-free. The menu provides quite a few burger choices, as well as chicken options and monthly “craveables.” The Fat Cow shakes are available in a 16-ounce or 24-ounce cup and include flavors such as Cherry Dream, Orangesicle and more.

How do you make a truck your own? We're redefining what it means to drive a pickup. With luxurious comfort, a world-class entertainment system, and a 6-position Multi-Flex Tailgate, Silverado is the change you've been waiting for.

Achatz Burgers

Located in Macomb Township, the Achatz family has been serving great burgers for 50 years. The menu features hamburgers, cheeseburgers, mini burgers, specialty burgers and more. The Achatz Supreme and Bacon Cheeseburger should surely be kept in mind. Chocolate, vanilla and strawberry shakes and malts are available, as well as Root Beer and Vernors floats.

The craving for a delicious shake and hearty burger is real after reading (or writing, on my part) this article. Be sure to check out one of these local establishments the next time you are in the mood for this tasty combination.
