Here in Metro Detroit, we like burgers. Whether you’re a carnivore or a vegetarian, there’s a burger option out there for you at more than one burger joint in Southeast Michigan. Burgers are an all-American staple—you can enjoy a simple beef patty with cheese on a sesame seed bun, or get a little fancy with a turkey burger on a whole-wheat roll with avocado.

No matter how you top it, burgers are the best. If, like the rest of us, you are also a burger aficionado, you’re going to love the Big Grill Burger Bash. This celebration of burgers will take place at the Royal Oak Farmers Market this Friday, August 22.

From 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., those who attend will be able to sample burgers, sides, desserts and craft beer. If this doesn’t sound like the perfect Friday night, I don’t know what does! General admission tickets cost $55 (which includes however many burger samples you can stomach, along with five three-ounce beer samples) and VIP tickets cost $75 (instead, 10 three-ounce craft beer samples with your burger bites and early admission).

If you find yourself running out of beer sample tickets, additional tickets will be available for purchase at the Burger Bash. This event isn’t just about sampling excellent food and drink, either. You’ll be fulfilling your civic duty while you’re there! As you taste test, mark your ballot to vote for your favorite burgers. Winning burgers will be crowned in categories like Best All Around Burger, Best Veggie/Vegan Burger, Most Flavorful Burger, Best Turkey Burger, Most Unique Burger and People’s Choice Award for 2014.

From backyard projects to weekend getaways, the Chevy Blazer offers unmatched cargo space and convenience for all your adventures.

Sample-sized burgers will be on deck all night from the following restaurants:

Mt. Chalet, 1917 American Bistro, Lazybones Smokehouse, Granite City Food & Brewery, Majestic Café, Firebird Tavern, Blackfinn, ONYX Modern Steakhouse & Whiskey Bar, Lucky Strike, The Hub Sports Bistro, Blackbird Bistro, Greenleaf Turkey, The Hideout, Red Crown, Three Blind Mice Irish Pub, Dooley’s, CPub, Jay’s Stuffed Burgers and Novi Chophouse.

Several of the above eateries will also provide side dish items like French fries and mac n’ cheese. Dessert is not to be forgotten either, and will be provided by Chez Chloe, A Serendipity Cakery, Peteet’s Famous Cheesecake, A Slice of Heaven Cakes by Kristin and Detroit Mini Donut.

Since the Big Grill Burger Bash is a food-based event, there are no designated driver tickets available. There are, however, plenty of soft drinks and water on hand, so if you are looking to give away any drink tickets, pass ‘em on over my way! The 21+ event is hosted by The Social Connection and Ultimate Fun Productions.

In addition to the food, entertainment will be provided by DJ Escalade. You’ll be moving the whole time sampling a variety of food, so you might as well be groovin’ while you’re at it. For the time being, early bird ticket prices are still available, so if you hurry, you can purchase a General Admission ticket for just $40 and a VIP ticket for only $60.

If you’re feeling lucky, text “burgerbash” to 95577 and you might just win tickets to the event!

The Big Grill Burger Bash is a great opportunity to sample some of Southeast Michigan’s best (and biggest variety of) burgers, not to mention, craft beer as well. Enjoy, and let me know which burger was your favorite!
