There’s plenty of reasons to go camping, and many of the local campgrounds offer a lot more than just a place to pitch a tent. Whether you’re looking to do some fishing or biking, or maybe just need to find ways to entertain the little ones, these five metro Detroit campgrounds have some great amenities to help you enjoy your stay in the great outdoors. If you’re looking to have some fun on the water, then you should pack up the RV and head to the Detroit Greenfield RV Park. Located off beautiful Greenfield Lake, the site offers plenty of fun on land, but the real fun is on the water. Along with a huge waterslide and fishing areas, you can rent paddle boats to go around the lake for a relaxing trip with gorgeous views. After an afternoon of paddle boating, you can have some fun on land as the site also features a mini golf course, a sand volleyball court, and a game room. Paddle boating is great for your legs, but if you need a work out for your arms, there’s no better way to do that on the water than with a kayak. Sterling State Park in Monroe features over a mile of beach which of course means there’s plenty of room to kayak. You can rent a kayak for a couple hours, or bring your own, and venture out during a beautiful Michigan sunset. Most would argue that a camping trip isn’t a camping trip without fishing. Bald Mountain Recreation Area in Lake Orion gives campers the chance to make their camping experience complete with fishing in Graham Lake. Fishers can reel in panfish, northern pike, and largemouth bass in the lake and adjacent creeks. Every journey is more fun when you're together.
