Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a staple to any kindergartener’s diet, and there’s nothing wrong with enjoying one in adulthood, either. However, as your palate becomes more sophisticated, you realize that peanut butter pairs well with so many other flavors: chocolate, bacon, you name it.

November is National Peanut Butter Lovers Month, and these Metro Detroit restaurants allow you to celebrate appropriately:

Head to Southfield’s Donut Bar + Coffee, where you’ll find an assortment of unique and crazily topped doughnuts on the daily. If you’re lucky, these Peanut Butter Cup babies will not have run out yet by the time you get there.

Adventure starts with a vehicle that’s up for anything. Trailblazer combines comfort you want, the versatility you need, and the technology to make every moment count.

Fountain Bistro, located in Detroit, serves up an excellent peanut butter option on its brunch menu. Start your day with Peanut Butter Banana pancakes or French toast, topped with peanut butter mousse, crispy pancetta, sliced bananas and cinnamon sugar.

The Wurst Bar of Ypsilanti is known for its gourmet brats and burgers, and will allow you to satisfy your burger and peanut butter craving in one meal. The Mr. Peanut burger is topped with aged Cheddar, bacon and homemade crunchy peanut butter.

Mudgie’s Deli, located in Detroit, makes some of Corktown’s best sandwiches. If you’re there with picky eaters, they will appreciate the housemade peanut butter sandwiches on the kid’s menu. Varieties include peanut butter and apple, peanut butter and Slow Jams strawberry preserves and peanut butter with Michigan honey.

Metro Sliders, found in Clinton Township, doesn’t shy away from interesting peanut butter burger pairings, either. Here, you’ll find Peanut Butter Bacon sliders, with creamy peanut butter, thick cut bacon and Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce.

Grand Traverse Pie Company, with multiple locations, has so many varieties of pie, you could sample a new one each day of the month and not repeat yourself. To celebrate this month, try Barb’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream, a pie with flaky crust, a layer of chocolate cream, peanut butter cream, whipped topping and chocolate shavings.

Whether you’re a fan of the traditional peanut butter and jelly sandwich or are looking to expand your culinary horizons, get a sampling of Metro Detroit’s tastiest peanut butter offerings this month!
