Cheers! Refreshing Summer Cocktails in Metro D

When the mercury rises and it’s the end of the week, what’s a thirsty guy or gal to do? Naturally, reach for a refreshing summer cocktail. If a tasty beverage is what you seek to get the weekend started off right, you’ll find plenty at one of the following:

Mesa Tacos and Tequila, 312 S. Main St., Royal Oak, is a downtown newbie, featuring a drink menu of handcrafted cocktails, martinis, margaritas, sangria and Mojitos. The only problem you’ll have here is deciding which thirst-quencher to order (first).

Try the Upper East Side cocktail (with Old Forester Bourbon, Amargo Vallet and Xocolatl Mexican Mole Bitters), Grilled Pineapple margarita (grilled pineapple infused Patron Silver, Gran Gala, lemon, lime and simple syrup), or Sangria Blanco de la Mesa (white wine with Presidente Mexican Brandy, orange juice, turbinado sugar and seasonal fruit).

Punch Bowl Social, 1331 Broadway St., Detroit, offers a variety of cocktails on its menu, the highlight of which are three adult milkshakes (read: boozy!). Go for the Malted Maple Royale with Crown Maple, malted milk, soft serve vanilla ice cream, nutmeg, whipped cream and candied bacon. The other two options are Milk-Xologist #4 and B.B. Alexander.

From transporting food and goods to having enough room for pets and family, owning the right SUV is essential for pet owners. See the available features that make the Chevy Tahoe a pet lover's dream.

Additional worthwhile cocktails include the Lavender Sour #2 (with barrel-aged Knickerbocker Gin, homemade lavender syrup and fresh lemon juice) and Fresh Strawberry Daiquiri (rum, strawberry simple syrup and fresh lime juice).

Red Smoke Barbeque, 573 Monroe St., Detroit, has a great selection of mixers, margaritas and martinis. Electric Lemonade is one of my personal favorite summer cocktails, and here it’s made with vodka, Blue Curacao, sweet and sour and Sierra Mist.

The Grand Margartina (with Cuervo Gold, Triple Sec, Grand Marnier, lemon and lime), Tennessee Punch (Jack Daniel’s, Peach Schnapps, sweet and sour, Sierra Mist, orange juice and grenadine) and Georgia Peach martini (vodka, Peach Schnapps, orange juice and pineapple juice) will also keep you cool.

No matter where you live or play in southeast Michigan, a refreshing summer cocktail is never too far away. Just be sure to call yourself a reliable form of transportation at the end of the night if you overindulge. Cheers!
