The Silverado is the truck that works as hard as you do.
With 2015 fading further and further into the rearview mirror, award season is in full force for the automotive industry. Chevrolet can claim 2015 as yet another successful year, as it has clinched several awards thus far.
Earlier this month, the 2016 Camaro’s 3.6-liter V6 engine and the 2016 Volt’s Voltec propulsion system were both named among the 10 best engines by WardsAuto. There were 31 engines and 11 different automakers reviewed. WardsAuto looked at factors such as power, fuel-efficiency, new technology and refinement.
That was not the only award captured by the Chevrolet Volt. The electric vehicle also took home the Green Car of the Year Award at the Los Angeles Auto Show this past November. Judges noted the sleeker design, more energy-dense batteries, new electric motor and other factors.
Last month, the Generation Six Camaro was named as Motor Trend’s 2016 Car of the year! In addition, the 2016 Camaro SS was named one of Car and Driver’s “10Best” cars. We are not done quite yet. The Z06 model was named as one of the top performance cars of the year by Road & Track Magazine.
The Chevy Colorado was also named as Motor Trend’s 2016 Truck of the Year. Its all-new 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine helped it win back-to-back Motor Trend Truck of the Year awards.
Here are a few other fun factoids about Chevrolet in 2015: According to Google’s “Year in Search 2015” report, four of the Top 10 trends in vehicle searches were Chevrolet models: Malibu, Silverado, Camaro and Colorado. The 2016 Malibu was actually the most searched car on Google, and the 2016 Silverado was the most searched truck.
Something else worth mentioning: Chevrolet Racing won 11 championships in 2015. Six of which were manufacturer championships, to go with five driver championships. This includes NASCAR, NHRA, United SportsCar Championship and Pirelli World Challenge series.
