Takeout saves the day in many instances: when you’re too tired to cook, when you have no food in the fridge, or when it’s New Year’s Eve and you need something quick, tasty and filling before you head out to party the night away.

If you’ve got a hankering for Chinese food tonight, or any other night for that matter, these are some of the best Chinese restaurants in southeast Michigan:

Lim’s Star

A gem located in Livonia, Lim’s Star is my go-to for Chinese cuisine. Favorites like General Tso’s Chicken, Cashew Shrimp, Egg Drop Soup and Sweet and Sour Chicken are on the menu. I recommend the Lemon Chicken, which is top notch. Lim’s Star will be open on New Year’s Day and is closed on Mondays.

Chopstick House

You’ll find Szechuan, Hunan and Beijing cuisine on the menu at this Canton establishment, with house specials, appetizers, chicken, pork, beef and seafood dishes to choose from. Order the Vegetable Fried Rice, Singapore Rice Noodle, Beef with Ginger and Garlic Sauce or Chicken with Spicy Tea Sauce.

With best-in-class cargo space, top of the line safety features, and cutting edge technology, the Chevy Suburban is perfect for any family. See the Suburban's available features that can keep up with your family's lifestyle.

Szechwan Empire North

Located in Commerce Township, there are a variety of tasty lunch specials, dinner entrees, vegetarian options and house specialties on the menu. Try The Honey Glaze Beef, Black Pepper Chicken and Beef or Walnut Shrimp found under house specialties to get a taste of what the restaurant does best.

An additional location, Szechwan Empire South, is located in Livonia.

Shangri-La

Dim Sum is the star of the menu at this Chinese restaurant, with locations in both West Bloomfield and Midtown. Items on the menu include Steamed BBQ Pork Bun and Curry Chicken Pastry. Curry, noodle dishes, fried rice, combo platters and more are also available.

Peking House

Open for both lunch and dinner, this Royal Oak restaurant is perfect for suiting your Chinese craving for carry out, dine-in or delivery. Mango Chicken, Shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce and Shrimp with Lobster Sauce are just a few of the tasty entrée choices.

If you’re looking for a New Year’s resolution, here’s a suggestion: try out all of the above Chinese restaurants the Metro Detroit area has to offer in the new year.
