Calling all car fanatics! It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for all summer, possibly all year. The Woodward Dream Cruise is this Saturday, Aug. 15, and it’s time for another fun-filled weekend of all things cars in the Motor City.
While the Dream Cruise itself takes place on Saturday, there are events happening throughout the cities of Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Pontiac and Royal Oak on the days leading up to the big event, too.
This Friday, head to Berkley for a food court and DTE Energy Booth with games and prizes. You’ll also find plenty of Woodward Dream Cruise merchandise! On Thursday and Friday in Ferndale, bring the family for a Kid’s Play Zone and Rock’n Live Entertainment Stage. From 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, the 15th Anniversary Ferndale Emergency Vehicle Show will take place on East Nine Mile. If you’re in Royal Oak on Friday, check out the Performance Park Classic Car Show from noon to 7 p.m.
The main event runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and CBS radio will be live broadcasting the Woodward Dream Cruise throughout the day from various locations along the route. While you can find the events for each day online, you can also download the Woodward Dream Cruise app to your phone and local restaurants, hotels and more will be right at your fingertips.
While it’s all about the cars on Saturday, if you’re also a fitness nut, consider the 4th Annual Cruise in Shoes™ 5K Fun Run/Walk. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. in Royal Oak and online registration is available until Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Should you be watching the cruise in Royal Oak, stop by the Michigan by the Bottle Tasting Room, which will be offering free samples of Peninsula Cellars Hot Rod Cherry along with special sales.
