It is mid March, which just so happens to be one of my favorite times of the year. Sunnier days, St. Patrick’s Day and college basketball madness! The NCAA Tournament began earlier this week with play-in games, but today is when the action really gets going with the round of 64 teams. What would college basketball be without large televisions, beer and food? Not quite as much fun. Here are some great places around metro Detroit to watch the tournament.
Located in Clinton Township, The Detroit Pub offers several widescreen, HD TVs to catch all of the action. There is also a varied selection of draft and bottled beer. The pub offers $2 domestic bottles all day on Sundays (and Mondays). Pool tables, darts and live entertainment are other available options. Take a look at the menu.
A pregame or postgame favorite spot for Detroit sporting events, Nemo’s will also be broadcasting the tournament games. The beers are always flowing and the atmosphere of Nemo’s is unlike any other. The menu offers your classic bar food, perfect for a basketball game.
Berkley’s 24 Seconds’ name references the shot clock in pro basketball, so how could it not make the list? It also has 24 HD, big screen TVs, 24 beers on a tap and all kinds of specials throughout the week. The menu is packed with a variety of options, including burgers, salad and pizza.

Other bars to enjoy the exciting basketball action at include Doc’s Sport Retreat (Livonia), On the Dunes (Commerce), R.U.B. BBQ Pub (Detroit), HopCat (Detroit, Ann Arbor), Bookie’s (Detroit), Hamlin Corner (Royal Oak), Ciccarelli’s 22 (three locations) and Sports Venue (Garden City).
Fill those brackets out and get to your favorite sports hot spot in the area! Let the madness begin.
