BOOM! POW! KAPLOW!
It’s that time of the year, comic book fans! Free Comic Book Day is upon us — as in tomorrow.
What? You’ve never heard of Free Comic Book Day?
Well, the idea is simple: every year on the first Saturday in May, comic book fans and store owners celebrate the wonder that is comic books by dedicating a day to giving away free comic books from a selection that is sent out by all participating publishers (it’s similar to the idea behind Record Store Day, which I wrote about recently, minus the free part). The idea is that the free comic books people end up picking up might inspire them to check out other books the very same day or sometime down the road.

This year, there is a great variety of free comic books being handed out by the likes of DC Comics, Marvel, Titan Comics, Darby Pop and more. Some of the free books include, Suicide Squad #1 from DC Comics, Civil War II #1 from Marvel, Archie #1 from Archie Comic Publications and Avatarex: Destroyer of Darkness by acclaimed comics writer Grant Morrison. Check out the full list of free comics here.
