“Our game day experience is going to provide all of the amenities that one would expect from a professional sporting event,” Alex Wright, co-owner of Detroit City FC, said. “From concessions, beer, multiple food trucks, merchandise, really anything that you would see at a big-time pro event, Detroit City FC is going to have it. Hopefully (the fans) can take a part of the experience home with them.”

The club’s first home game at the new stadium is on Friday, May 20 against AFC Ann Arbor. Keyworth Stadium can hold a capacity of about 6,000 people right now. The team is hoping to expand its capacity to about 10,000 people in the future. Initial upgrades include expanding the press box, sprucing up the locker rooms and bathrooms and cleaning up the grounds.

The space, which doubles as the team’s offices, opened On April 22. The store is open Wednesday through Sunday.

On Saturday, May 28, a truly special event takes place in Hamtramck. DCFC hosts FC United of Manchester (England). It is the first time the team plays international friendly competition and it is the Keyworth dedication match.

“We are excited to fly them over and to treat them and our fans to soccer between two teams that share a passion for community-focused, supporter focused soccer,” Wright said. “FC United Manchester has a really cool story of their own and it is our pleasure to bring them over for our first internationally friendly.”
