Four Reasons to Head to the Grand Prix This Weekend

The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix has returned for 2016! The event kicks off this weekend, beginning on Friday, June 3 and ending on Sunday, June 5. Whether you are a race fan or not, the electric atmosphere, roaring crowd and fast cars are enough to pique anyone’s interest. So, here are four reasons that should draw a metro Detroiter down to Belle Isle to check out the action.

Chevrolet Sports Car Classic

Your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers are ecstatic to sponsor the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic, which takes place at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday. The race features 29 entries and lasts for 100 minutes. It is Round 5 of the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech Sportcar Championship.

Chevrolet Dual in Detroit

The annual Dual in Detroit races, presented by Quicken Loans, are a staple of the Detroit Grand Prix. Some of the top drivers in the Verizon IndyCar Series will race through the 2.35-mile circuit to take home a win. The qualifying race takes place on Friday, with Dual I taking place on Saturday and Dual II on Saturday.

Fan Activities

The fan activities are fun for the whole family! Some of these activities include displays, live music, autograph sessions with drivers, extreme sports demonstrations, free monster truck rides, celebrity appearances and more. The Romantics will perform on Saturday followed by Morris Day on Sunday.

The Vehicles

Of course, the cars and trucks are a reason to go! With the Verizon IndyCar Series, WeatherTech Sportcar Championship and SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks, there is something for everybody. The exciting races, expert drivers and challenging courses are definitely worth traveling to Belle Isle to check out.
