Summer and barbecue are a match made in heaven, and there’s plenty of barbecue to go around in the Motor City. When you’re craving a pulled pork or pulled chicken sandwich, these establishments have got your back:

Bad Brad’s, with locations in Shelby Township, Clinton Township and New Baltimore, offers several tasty sandwiches, including the Big Jimmy (pulled chicken with applewood bacon, Cheddar cheese and 3-2-1 sauce) and Johnny Diablo (pulled pork, guacamole, salsa, red onion and sour cream rolled up in a tortilla).

Be sure to check the menu before you go, as it differs at each location!

Zeke’s Rock ‘n’ Roll BBQ of Ferndale has plenty of crazy sandwich concoctions on its menu, along with the tried and true Pulled Chicken Sandwich and Pulled Pork Sandwich. Both are served with house or Sriracha slaw, pickle and onion.

The Silverado is the truck that works as hard as you do.

While the meal does come with fries, do yourself a serious favor and order a side of out-of-this-world mac and cheese instead.

Lockhart’s BBQ in Royal Oak claims to bring the warmth of southern barbecue to Detroit, and there’s only one way to test that statement. Try the Carolina Pork (topped with coleslaw and served on a homemade bun) or BBQ Chicken sandwich (thinly sliced, not pulled, chicken breast topped with smoked Provolone cheese).

Served with one side, you have over two dozen options including Creamy Coleslaw, Sweet Potato Fries and Jalapeno Brown Beans.

As these are just three of numerous great options for dining in the D, keep Jay Ray’s BBQ in mind for any and all catering needs. Jay Ray’s was at Ferndale’s Pig and Whiskey in July, where you may have enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich topped with ‘slaw. Find the catering menu here.

Have barbecue, will travel! Food truck Smoke Ring BBQ serves up Kansas City-inspired barbecue in the Metro Detroit area, including Pulled Pork and Chopped Chicken sandwiches. Check the website to see where they are on any given day.

Whether kept simple or made fancy, pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches are a staple to any barbecue lover’s diet. Enjoy these options in Metro D!
