Entering its fourth year, the 2017 Detroit Cocktail Classic is going to be the biggest celebration yet. What has been a one night event the past three years, is now going to be a week long extravaganza starting next Monday, November 13.

The goal of the event is to highlight Detroit’s growing cocktail and bar scene by putting on creative programming like workshops, cocktail-paired dinners, and more spirited driven events. You’ll find many of the area’s most popular restaurants and bars, along with new favorites, on full display over the course of the six day event.

The event’s producer, Anthony Morrow, is excited to see what it looks like as a week long event, but says that it’ll be the same great event people have grown to love.

“The genesis of it is still what it is today, to celebrate craft cocktails, the cocktail movement, and specifically the establishments and bartenders that have given rise to the movement,” said Morrow. “We are a mirror to the scene and this is the one time where we all get together.”

Whether you're gearing up for a weekend trip or headed to the green, the Chevy Blazer offers the perfect blend of style, space, and performance to meet your needs.

The main event that will bring everyone together is the Grand Tasting taking place on Friday, November 17 in Eastern Market’s Shed 3 and 5. Described as the cocktail party of the year, the area’s best drinking establishments will be showcasing their creative cocktail creations.

The Grand Tasting might be considered the headlining event, but there are plenty of other events and dinners to be excited about. There are plenty of great combinations of cocktails and dinners throughout the week, be sure to check out the full calendar here.

“It’s cool for me as the producer to see what everyone comes up with. It’s very creative to see a spirit brand work hand-in-hand with a restaurant and their bartender and creating a unique cocktail,” said Morrow.

This year’s event will feature two workshops, the Detroit Hospitality Workshop on Tuesday, November 14 and the USBG Cocktail Competition Workshop on Wednesday, November 15. The Hospitality Workshop will bring restaurants and bars together to show how they can improve their customers’ experiences, and the USBG Workshop will feature industry experts teaching best practices for judges and competitors.

Whether you’re going to the event as a knowledgeable cocktail drinker or someone looking for a fun night out, the Detroit Cocktail Classic has something for everyone.

“What’s attractive from the consumer’s perspective is that if you’re really into cocktails or if you just want to see what the scene in Detroit is all about, you can experience that in one place at one night,” said Cocktail Ambassador for Great Lakes Wine & Spirits, Travis Fourmont.

After three successful years as a one night event, the Detroit Cocktail Classic is ready to take the next step and establish itself as a regional event highlighting the area’s best mixologists.

“It’s time now for Detroit to have something like this and I’m glad we were in position to do it, this is the next logical step. I truly believe the level of talent we have here in the industry is second to none.” said Morrow.
