Luckily, there are many ways to show your dog you care around Metro Detroit. From independent pet stores to self-service dog washing stations, you can pretty much find anything you need. For your convenience, listed below are several pet-pampering/pet essentials options. You may be surprised to learn how many interesting ways you can take care of your animals locally.
Unique Dog Grooming
Shampooch Dog Wash and Grooming, 44270 Warren Rd. in Canton is a very intriguing place. It’s very affordable, and offers easy self-service grooming for your pooch. Shampooch provides washing tubs (easily accessible for dogs of any size), safety straps, several kinds of shampoos and conditioners, aprons and everything else you need. The price varies by the size of your dog. If you would rather leave the grooming to the professionals, you can also allow the knowledgeable staff members to take care of your pet by setting up an appointment for a full-service grooming session. Pampered Pet Mobile is a pet grooming business on wheels! Instead of having to bring your pet in somewhere, Pampered Pet Mobile comes to you! Your pet will be groomed right outside of your door. Services include trimming of the feet and pads, nail trimming, ear cleaning, brushing, hydro massage bathing and much more. It services Wayne County, Oakland County and Macomb County. Precious Furs Mobile Pet Spa is another mobile dog grooming option, serving Livonia, Northville, Novi and Plymouth. Dog Parks
Swift Run Dog Park in Ann Arbor (Platt Road and Ellsworth Road) is 10 acres worth of grassy fields and fun for your canine companion! It has 5-foot high perimeter fencing and is open daily from dusk till dawn year round. It also offers large and small dog run areas and mowed trails with plenty of benches if you want to take a breather and let your pup run free for a little while.
Maloof Statler Dog Park, 19800 Chalon St., in St. Clair Shores (Brys Park) is another fine option for little Lassie (or whatever name your dog goes by)! It’s open 365 days a year and has room for your dogs to run around and play. Benches, shaded areas and drinking fountains are also on the premises. You must purchase a key fob to gain access.

Doggy Day Care
All American Pet Resorts resides at 7320 Haggerty Rd in Canton. If you are going away on a trip and need to board your pet for a few days, but are wary of leaving your beloved animals with strangers, don’t fret. This place is great. It provides plenty of play spaces, great grooming care and even has webcams so you can check on your furry friend online. When you pick up your dog, you receive a report card explaining how he or she behaved. All American Pet Resort took great care of my girlfriend and I’s pup.
AAPR has other locations sprinkled throughout Metro Detroit, including Royal Oak, Rochester and Roseville.
Happy Hounds sits at 673 S. Main St. in Plymouth. It is a totally cage-free experience. Similar to All American Pet Resorts, doggie webcams are available to check up on your fur babies! Boarding, grooming, day care and more are all options at Happy Hounds. Your animals will be in great hands here.

Sit Stay Swim is located at 29855 Ford Rd., Ste. C, in Garden City. This place is very original and you’d be hard-pressed to find another facility like it. Among the many services offered by Sit Stay Swim are training, fitness, swimming and similar to Shampooch, DIY dog washing. Basically, it is the perfect place to make sure your fur child is healthy and happy. Sit Stay Swim knows the importance of keeping your dog in shape. It offers a pool, treadmill lessons, puppy socials and “Just for Fun” agility equipment. Prices are very affordable and you can also buy package deals.
On top of all of these fantastic options for your dogs, be sure to check out the Novi Pet Expo. The event begins on Friday, Nov. 21 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 23 at Suburban Collection Showplace (46100 Grand River in Novi).
