If you’re like us, you’ve probably tried almost every type of pizza imaginable. Or at least you think you have. Have you tried a potato pizza? How about crab pizza? BLT pizza? If not, metro Detroit pizzerias have your back as there are plenty of establishments offering delicious twists on the classic pie. So save your favorite carryout pizza for another night and venture out to one of these five great pizzerias for some truly unique pizzas!
Pop + Offworld
Known for their impressive collection of classic arcade games, Pop + Offworld also features terrific New York style pizza options to go along with your gaming. Pizzas like their Notorious BLT, Coco Curry, and Napalm Breath will satisfy your pizza cravings, but their Turn the Beet Around pizza is arguably their most unique. The white pie features a cheese blend, tomato, red onion, feta, roasted garlic, beet tzatziki, fried garlic, and kalamata olives. Featuring the freshest ingredients and a wide range of options, Major Tomato’s pizzas always offer a major amount of flavor. Arguably their most flavorful pizza is the Major Potato pizza which features features broccoli, potato, cheddar cheese, and white sauce. Their flavor doesn’t stop there, however, as you should also try their Little Mac, Killer Tofu, and Arugula Mania for more unique pizza flavor. Featuring a rotating, seasonal menu, there’s always something new and exciting to try out at Pie-Sci Pizza. Their spring menu has plenty of unique pizzas such as the Pear Necessities and Hani Depp, but it’s their Fleetwood Mac pizza that caught our eye (and stomach). The white pizza is topped with ground beef, romaine lettuce, tomato, white onion, pickles, thousand island dressing, mustard drizzle, on a sesame seed crust. Tomatoes Apizza is often regarded as one of the top pizza places in southeast Michigan, and it’s not hard to see why. While they offer mostly traditional (but still great) pizzas, it’s their Crab Pizza that you have to try. If you can’t decide on just one pizza, try as much as you want at their popular lunch buffet every weekday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tomatoes Apizza has locations in Farmington Hills and Farmington, and you can order your favorite pizza online. Bigalora Cucina has plenty of pasta, soups, and Italian dishes, but it’s their pizza that really makes metro Detroiters come back for more. From their Margherita Buffala pizza, to their Salame Finocchiona pizza, Bigalora Cucina’s range of quality pizzas is really impressive. For those looking for something different, their Wood Roasted Vegetables features a house blend mozzarella, roasted onion, roasted zucchini, and roasted tomato. With locations in Ann Arbor, Southfield, Royal Oak, and Rochester Hills, you’re never too far away from great pizza!
