February is the shortest month of the year, but with 2016 being Leap Year, we get an extra day for fun in the D! There are all kinds of activities going on this month, from the big football game to paczki day to Valentine’s Day.

If you’re looking for a few fun activities to enjoy this month, consider the following:

Drinks with Maria: Concoctions in Chocolate

On Friday, Feb. 5, The RattleSnake Club of Detroit will host a chocolate cocktail and food pairing event combining sweet and savory. Beverage manager Maria Papp and bartender Farouk Elhaje will present four different cocktails and a course with each.

Here’s a sneak peek at one of the courses: homemade spiced chocolate kombucha with Silver tequila and simple syrup, served with Roasted Chicken Mole Veracruz and sweet potato crisp and smash.

With best-in-class cargo space, top of the line safety features, and cutting edge technology, the Chevy Suburban is perfect for any family. See the Suburban's available features that can keep up with your family's lifestyle.

1st Annual Blake’s Hard Cider Chili Cook Off

Warm up during the cold winter months by enjoying some chili! On Saturday, Feb. 20, Blake’s of Armada will host its first Chili Cook Off from noon to 11 p.m. Chili is served until 5 p.m., with live music from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Admission is just $10 online ($12 at the door) and includes one drink ticket and unlimited chili.

Mac N’ Brews

If chili isn’t your ideal comfort food, there’s only one other option: mac and cheese. Sample some of the area’s best at the Royal Oak Farmers Market on Thursday, Feb. 25. There will be over 40 different craft beers on hand to sample along with the cheesiest mac in town.

Early bird general admission tickets cost $40 (with entry at 7:30 p.m.), while VIP admission costs $55 (with entry at 6:30 p.m.).

Winter Farmers Market

Get back into the swing of things that normally occur during the spring and summertime! The Canton Farmers Market will host a special winter market at the Summit on the Park on Sunday, Feb. 28.

Vendors will include Jar Head Salsa, Steinhauser Farm, Farmhouse Market Cheesecakes, U.P. Pasties, Farmington Soap Works and more. There will also be a cooking demonstration by a local chef. The local market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There’s plenty of fun to be had in southeast Michigan in February, especially when we’re given an extra day this month! Have fun, and be sure to take advantage of it.
