Listen up, yogis. You may love experiencing peace and tranquility once a week at your favorite yoga studio, but there are other places to enjoy the sweet relief of a good workout and simultaneous calmness. Maybe you want to take your yoga session to new heights or maybe you want to get lost in the woods with other yogis for a weekend. Wherever you prefer to get your downward dog on, here are a few summer yoga events to help you find your inner peace in metro Detroit. Veteran yogis know how relaxing yoga can be but if you want to add some serenity to your next session, you might want to try rooftop yoga. Luckily, there are plenty of rooftop yoga events that are happening this summer across the city. Detroit Yoga Lab is hosting hip-hop yoga on the rooftop of 900 Tower + Terrace in Eastern Market on four separate dates this summer. Get a view of the Detroit River while striking your best warrior pose on July 12 when RenCen Fitness hosts rooftop yoga at the GM Ren Cen on the Beaubien Place Garage. A great way to practice yoga is outdoors in the open forest. The sounds of birds chirping, the wind gliding across your body and nothing but the direction of your instructor are what you can expect with a weekend at Barefoot and Free Yoga Festival. In addition to practicing yoga, festival-goers can enjoy talks on diet, astrology and more, as well as live music from DJs and bands. Ever wonder what it’d be like to stand in the middle of Comerica Park and just take it all in? Wonder no more. Yoga Day at Comerica Park is happening August 6 and gives you the opportunity to combine your love of yoga and baseball. By purchasing a ticket you’ll get a Tigers yoga mat, one hour of yoga, free parking and, of course, the chance to see the Tigers take on the White Sox. The Chevy Trax offers style and practicality, perfect for making every drive fun for the whole family. They say the best time to eat is after a good workout due to increased metabolism post-workout. So, why not try a rigorous yoga session on Belle Isle with NMKYoga and Coach Rami from Rami Sami Fitness followed by some great food afterward to put some (delicious) energy back in your body? Yoga, scenic Bell Isle and food? What more do you need? Tranquility with a View
