While it’s impossible to ever repay the woman who has done everything for you in your life, a.k.a. your mom, you can start with brunch. Mother’s Day is this Sunday, and what better way to start a day filled with bonding than by sharing a meal? These restaurants and eateries in the D are hosting Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 10. Take your pick and make a reservation stat!

Sweet Lorraine’s, 29101 Greenfield Rd., Southfield, is hosting a Mother’s Day brunch complete with sweet and savory options. Try one of the specials, like Lobster Scramble (baby lobster tails with sundried tomatoes, asparagus, goat cheese and fresh herbs) or Baked Brioche French Toast (your choice of classic or strawberry Baked Brioche French Toast, both served with Michigan maple syrup).

Brunch entrees are served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include dishes like Michigan “Yoopers” Whitefish (drizzled with lemon-peppercorn sauce, served with grilled squash, zucchini and smashed redskin potatoes) and Mama’s Roasted Chicken (half of a slow roasted chicken served with Chevre Cheese Bread Pudding and fresh veggies). All brunch items are priced individually.

Cliff Bell’s, 2030 Park Ave., Detroit, is no stranger to Sunday brunch, but Mother’s Day brunch is extra special. The cold buffet will feature fresh fruit, cold smoked salmon, field greens and breakfast staples like muffins, bagels and Danishes.

Adventure starts with a vehicle that’s up for anything. Trailblazer combines comfort you want, the versatility you need, and the technology to make every moment count.

The hot buffet includes Belgian Waffles (with fresh berries and syrup), Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli (in a champagne cream sauce), Roasted Airline Chicken (with wild mushrooms, Parmesan cream sauce and balsamic reduction). No breakfast buffet would be complete without bacon, sausage and crispy redskin potatoes, either, now would it?

The Mother’s Day brunch buffet at Cliff Bell’s costs $39.99 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under.

O’Mara’s, 2555 12 Mile Rd., Berkley, is an Irish restaurant serving up a grand buffet for moms this Sunday. A carving station will feature prime rib, turkey and ham, and hot stations will include Chipotle Rubbed Boneless Pork Loin, Creamy Scalloped Potatoes, Sweet and Sour Coconut Shrimp and more.

Deviled eggs, assorted appetizers, fresh fruit, house smoked salmon and tossed salad are on the menu as well. Be sure to save room for some incredible desserts, including homemade Bread Pudding with Bourbon Pecan Sauce. While it doesn’t get any better than that, assorted cakes, cookies and brownies will also be on hand.

Brunch costs $29.99 for adults, $14.99 for children 12 and under and is free for children under 4. The first seating is at 11 a.m. with the final seating at 6:30 p.m., and your best bet at this point for getting a reservation will fall later in the afternoon.

Grand Tavern, 3512 Marketplace Cir., Rochester Hills, provides more of a casual atmosphere than the previous restaurants on this list, but is still a wonderful option for Mother’s Day dining. The all-you-can-eat buffet runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and includes Salmon Florentine, Chicken Picatta, Honey Glazed Ham, build your own omelets, made to order crepes, mini muffins, assorted pastries, bacon, sausage links and more.

This is one of the more affordable Mother’s Day brunch options being offered, so if you’re pinching pennies, you can still take your mom out and treat her like the queen she is! The meal costs $19 for adults, $10 for children ages 12 and under and is free for children 4 and under. As of press time, the only reservations still available are at 9 a.m., so call quickly!

The Rugby Grille, 100 Townsend St., Birmingham, is located inside the Townsend Hotel and is serving a prix fixe brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. While there is currently a waiting list for reservations, you can call 248-642-5999 to put your name on the list.

The four course brunch includes items like Sheep’s Milk Ricotta Gnocchi, Shaved Asparagus Salad, Smoked Beef Short Rib and Budino (salted caramel maple pudding with a cookie crumble) for dessert.

Brunch is a great way to get your Mother’s Day started off in Metro Detroit. Have a fun-filled day in the D, and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
