Gamers for Giving, the annual fundraising event put on by and for Gamers Outreach, is taking place this weekend, April 28 & 29, at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Gamers for Giving and your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers are excited to continue our support of this awesome organization.

What’s that? You’ve never heard of Gamers for Giving or Gamers Outreach? Well then…

Gamers Outreach is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to provide hospitalized patients with recreational therapy in the form of video games. The organization does this with its flagship product: The GO Kart.

The GO (Gamers Outreach) Kart is a kiosk on wheels that is equipped with everything needed for someone to play video games (a TV, a video game console, controllers and games). But, the best part is that it’s on wheels so it can be moved around a hospital setting from room to room safely and easily.

Enough room for your pets. Enough room for everything they need. See why Suburban is perfect for you… and your four-legged friends.

Gamers for Giving is the big, annual fundraising event that Gamers Outreach organizes and produces in order to drive donations towards their organization and thus fund even more GO Karts for more hospitals!

The weekend-long event will bring in gamers, streamers and more from across the country to Ypsilanti, Michigan as everyone plays games to raise money for Gamers Outreach. This year, Gamers Outreach has set a fundraising goal of $350,000, up from last year’s goal of $200,000.

Streamers will be broadcasting their gameplay sessions live to an online audience and accepting donations through their respective channels. Others will be attending the “Bring Your Own Computer” LAN session where folks set up their gaming rigs at their assigned seat and gorge themselves on 48 hours of pure gaming goodness. And, finally, the most competitive gamers will be participating in one of the many tournaments taking place.

After hearing about this amazing organization and event, your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers were excited to get involved! We became a sponsor of last year’s Gamers for Giving and even presented our first GO Kart to Children’s Hospital of Michigan – DMC.

“GO Karts are fabulous in this setting because they’re able to transport our patients,” said Children’s Hospital of Michigan – DMC Child Life Manager Divna Wheelwright at the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers GO Kart ribbon cutting ceremony on January 12, 2018. “So, you think of being a child and being hospitalized, not having a lot of choices or agency, and suddenly we can bring in this world of possibility and this amazing, phenomenal distraction tool to them and the results are extraordinary.”

This year, we’re increasing our support of Gamers Outreach and providing more GO Karts to more southeast Michigan hospitals!

“We’re so grateful to work with our Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers in support of hospitalized patients and healthcare facilities throughout southeastern Michigan,” said Gamers Outreach founder Zach Wigal. “Our organization is focused on improving a patient’s quality of life during treatment. We believe having access to entertainment and recreation greatly improves the recovery process. With this commitment from our Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, Gamers Outreach will be capable of providing GO Karts to a wide number of major hospitals throughout the metro Detroit region. These units are sure to bring joy to thousands of patients for years to come!”

If you are unable to attend this year’s Gamers for Giving, you can watch all of the action online on the official Gamers Outreach Twitch channel, where you will also be able to make a donation to the cause.
