The holiday season is quickly approaching, which means it is time to get in the mood. One of the best ways to do that is to catch a holiday play. Lucky for you the Fox Theatre, Meadow Brook Theatre, City Theatre, and Michigan Opera Theatre have great productions going on throughout the holiday season.

A Christmas Carol, 11/11-12/23, Meadow Brook Theatre

The holiday classic returns to Meadow Brook Theatre for its 35th year. There are plenty of showtimes during its month and a half run, and there are great discounts for Oakland University alumni.

Silent Night, 11/12-11/20, Michigan Opera Theatre

Based on events from World War I, Silent Night tells the uplifting story of a spontaneous cease-fire between French, Scottish, and German soldiers on Christmas Eve, 1914.

Elf, 11/15-11/20, Fox Theatre

Based off the movie of the same name, Elf tells the hilarious tale of Buddy who accidentally gets transported to the North Pole and is raised as one of Santa’s elves.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze, 11/22-11/26, Fox Theatre

Moscow Ballets Great Russian Nutcracker, 12/18, Fox Theatre

Moscow Ballet’s iconic Great Russian Nutcracker comes to the Fox Theatre for three special performances on Sunday, December 18. The critically acclaimed production features a dancing company of almost 40 dancers, a 60-foot growing Christmas tree, new and spectacular hand-made costumes, and stunning sets.
