The spring season is arguably the best season to come up with creative and active date ideas because the weather is relatively perfect. Maybe you’re the couple who has been together for a long time and has gotten into the habit of having dinner on a Saturday night at the same two or three restaurants followed up by a night of Netflix. Or maybe you’re the new couple that’s still learning about each other you want to have experiences together beyond sitting in a bar talking over a pitcher and a pizza. No matter what stage you’re relationship is in, Metro Detroit has plenty of ways to add a little oomph to your next date night out. We’ve got four ideas below to help you spice up your next date night!
Color Run
If you and your significant other want to get out and do something really active, look no further than a color run. Combining the thrill of a 5K with the fun of being sprayed with colored paint, a color run might be the brightest idea you come up with this summer. The Color Vibe 5K run is scheduled to take place in Detroit this summer, with the date still TBD. Another fun option is the Rainbow Run 5K happening in Ferndale on Saturday, June 3.
Mini Golf
While everyone might not be a master at golf, everyone can play mini golf and it usually makes for a friendly competitive night for couples. There are plenty of great mini golf locations in southeast Michigan, including Jawor’s Golf Center in Roseville, Oasis Golf in Plymouth, and Paradise Park in Novi.
Hot Air Balloon Ride
Hot Air Balloon Rides should be on every couples bucket list and this is the summer to actually take your significant other on a ride to see the beautiful sights Michigan has to offer. Captain Cutty and Fly Balloons are two great places to book a romantic date night. Be sure to call ahead and schedule your date in advance as spots fill up and weather dictates the balloons’ availability.
Go to the Zoo
If you and your significant other are animal lovers, then spending the day walking around at the zoo should be on your summer date night agenda. The Detroit Zoo has plenty of great events coming up this summer including Sunset at the Zoo, Bike Safari, and Wild Beasts Wild Wine. Most Detroit Zoo events tend to fill up quickly, so be sure to sign up well in advance.
