Golf addicts, the good news is that golf season is underway at several courses in southeast Michigan. With golf courses scattered all around our area, it is fairly easy to find one that works for you; however, it can also be kind of overwhelming with so many to choose from.
We’ll make it easier for you. If you live in, or prefer to golf in, the Oakland County area (stay tuned for other counties), this story is for you. Listed below are a few (public) options to hit the links at in Oakland County.
Boasting 175 acres and gorgeous scenery, the Farmington Hills Golf Club course provides 18 holes of fun. The course measures at 6,413 yards and is surrounded by rolling hills, ponds and trees. The tees, fairways and greens offer manicured bent grass. Residents can play nine holes for a mere $15 ($17 on weekends), or 18 holes for $25 ($30 on weekends). Non-residents are welcome as well!
The course also runs several weekly specials. One such deal is 18 holes with a cart for only $25 Monday through Thursday!

Located in Rochester Hills, Twin Lakes offers 27 holes of great golf. The course has been named in Golf Digest’s “Places to Play,” and features wide, sweeping fairways, with large contoured putting surfaces. Additionally, a full practice facility is also available. Twin Peaks welcomes leagues and outings and hosts several events. Rates can be found online, and you can also book your tee time.
Coyote Golf Club, residing in New Hudson, has 18 holes on a challenging, immaculately-kept course. A fully-stocked pro shop, clubhouse, extensive event menu and great staff are also factors working in Coyote’s favor. If this is not enough, the facility also hosts events and outings, runs leagues and gives lessons. You can check rates here.
The Links at Crystal Lake (Pontiac) has a diverse mix of both long and short holes. The course features left and right doglegs, wetlands, ponds and both wooded and open areas. Of course, the gorgeous Crystal Lake surrounds many of the holes. Golfers are in for some challenging fun at the 14th hole, where they will find a unique island hole (par 3)! Despite the gorgeous topography, the rates are extremely inexpensive.
