New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and you may be thinking about what 2016 will bring. After the holidays, perhaps healthier eating habits?

Before you clean up your act, you may want to get in one last cheat meal before it’s time to hit the gym. Here’s where you’ll find some seriously tasty guilty pleasure meals in the D:

HopCat

With locations in Ann Arbor and Detroit, the bar’s Killer Mac and Cheese can be topped with a number of tasty toppings to suit your cravings. Add barbecue pork, grilled chicken, cherry bacon, fried egg, roasted red peppers, marinated tomatoes, pickled jalapenos or chorizo to your cheesy plate of noodles and you’ll be in carb heaven.

Parks and Rec

If you haven’t yet made your way to this Detroit diner, be sure to do so before the year’s end. While there, order a Cinnamon Roll, filled with walnuts and topped with chevre honey icing. It’s served in a cast-iron skillet, and if you have even the slightest sweet tooth, it will be satiated.

Enough room for your pets. Enough room for everything they need. See why Suburban is perfect for you… and your four-legged friends.

Mercury Burger Bar

Located in Corktown, you’ll find plenty of tasty (and not so much diet aligned) burgers to choose from at this joint. Try The Local (burger topped with pulled pork, coleslaw, pickles, Cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce) or Southwest Detroit (burger topped with chorizo slider, Muenster cheese, jalapeños, avocado and tortilla strips). Don’t forget a side of fries, which are cooked in lard.

Detroit Beer Co.

Grilled cheese has to be pretty unique to order out at a restaurant, and the Detroit Beer Co. has a great one. The Country Grilled Cheese includes fontina and white Cheddar cheese, bacon and granny smith apples on French bread. Add an ice cold brew to your order and you’re good to go.

Pizza Papalis

If authentic deep-dish style pizza is what you crave, you’ll find it at any one of the restaurant’s Metro Detroit locations. Order the Meat Eater’s Deluxe (with pepperoni, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon and ground beef) or Papalis Gourmet (with spinach, chicken breast, black olive, garlic and feta).

Enjoy your guilty pleasure meals with a clear conscience: remember, the gym will still be there in 2016.
