We all have that one “go to dish” we are supremely confident in cooking. Whether it’s because we have painstakingly perfected it over the years or have had the recipe passed down to us, crafting the perfect meal is immensely rewarding.

That being said, sometimes you need to think outside the box and step out of your comfort zone. While we might think we are master chefs, not all of us are, and that’s okay because there are a few in Metro Detroit that are and are willing to show you their ways. So save that old favorite recipe for another night and grab your apron. Here are some upcoming summer food classes that will help you expand your cooking skills.

The first cooking class we’ll highlight is a great place to experience cooking and not just because it’s called Experience Cooking. The Farmington Hills venue offers hands-on cooking classes that have you actively participating in creating a complete gourmet meal. The relaxed environment is perfect for a small party (8-11 people per class) for any occasion, so be sure to follow their Facebook page so you don’t miss out on a spot at their next class!

If you’re looking to take your cooking game to the next level, there are few better places to do that than at Mirepoix in Detroit. The hands-on culinary school offers a wide range of classes that will help you learn techniques to become that master chef you always wanted to be. Check out their calendar to see which class fits you best!

From transporting food and goods to having enough room for pets and family, owning the right SUV is essential for pet owners. See the available features that make the Chevy Tahoe a pet lover's dream.

Whether it’s baking bread or delicious desserts, baking can be just as important as cooking a full-blown meal. That’s where Zingerman’s baking classes come in. You’ll learn how to bake the perfect loaf of bread or decadent dessert from scratch at one of their many classes. The Ann Arbor staple offers numerous popular classes throughout each month, so be sure to check out their calendar for more information.

While Experience Cooking, Mirepoix, and Zingerman’s are great places for adults to elevate their cooking and baking game, there are also some great places where kids can learn the joy of cooking. That first place is The Kitchen Crew in Detroit. Billed as more than just a cooking class, the kitchen teaches young adults how to cook delicious foods from scratch while also teaching some life values along the way. Check out their Facebook and Instagram to see all the ways the Kitchen Crew is helping young Metro Detroiters.

Another place where kids can learn the joys of cooking is at Eastern Market. Classes range from BBQ street food, to veggie fest, to pancakes and cupcakes all in a fun and entertaining environment. Classes take place every Tuesday morning and on the first Saturday of every month. Recommended ages are 8-12 and classes are $15 each, but reserve your spot early as they are expected to fill-up quickly!
