Holiday Theater Shows & Concerts in Southeast Michigan

Ready or not, the holidays are approaching! If you’re the type who likes to ease into the season instead of jumping in head first, a good way to do so is by enjoying a festive show. It will more than likely put you into the holiday spirit, and there’s no better time to see a show or concert than this time of year!

If you’re interested in purchasing tickets to a holiday concert or theater show this season, check out one of the following:

The Fox Theatre, located in Detroit, is featuring many seasonal shows in the coming weeks, including “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” which begins tomorrow, Nov. 10, and runs through Nov. 15.

Next month, be sure to check out “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical” on Dec. 5 and 6, Detroit’s own Karen Newman on Dec. 15 and Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis on Dec. 18. There are plenty more holiday specials on the calendar, which you can find here.

The Sound Board, located at MotorCity Casino Hotel, kicks off the holiday season at the end of the month with The Detroit Symphony Musicians Holiday Pops Concert on Nov. 29.

If you’re a fan of folk, blues and Christmas tunes, purchase a ticket to A Johnnyswim Christmas, when the duo takes the stage on Dec. 10. Will Downing’s Soulful Sounds of Christmas is another way to get into the holiday groove on Dec. 20.

The Ark of Ann Arbor is known for hosting acoustic and folk artists, and Irish Christmas in America takes the stage on Nov. 30. Now in its 11th season, the show is a celebration of the holiday season through Irish song, dance and stories.

Meadow Brook Theatre, located in Rochester Hills, brings one of the biggest holiday classics to life with “A Christmas Carol,” opening Nov. 13 and running through Christmas Eve. The play, adapted from Charles Dickens’ novella, is in its 34th year and will surely put even the Scroogiest of audience members in the holiday spirit.
