Every house has needs in order to function properly. Cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other necessities are something we might take for granted, but there are some in the metro Detroit community who do not have that luxury.

Your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers and Capuchin Soup Kitchen are once again teaming up to give back to our community with the Truckloads of Hope program. Starting Thursday, March 1, participating Metro Detroit Chevy Dealerships will be accepting donations of personal shower supplies and household items such as towels, sheets, blankets, toiletries, and any other basic home necessities.

Colleen Crane, the public relations director for the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph, said that the Capuchin Soup Kitchen is funded primarily by donations and they depend on the community to help their guests with their needs. All of the items listed are needed, will be well-used, and are greatly appreciated.

How do you make a truck your own? We're redefining what it means to drive a pickup. With luxurious comfort, a world-class entertainment system, and a 6-position Multi-Flex Tailgate, Silverado is the change you've been waiting for.

“Hygiene items and household staples are costly for every household. Now imagine a household where one is struggling to meet the utility bills, let alone being able to afford laundry detergent,” Crane said. “The Truckloads of Hope effort is aptly named. The truckloads of hygiene and household items provide hope for our guests.”

The goal of the drive is to fill 38 Chevy Silverado truck beds, each representing one of the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers locations. At the end of the drive, which concludes Friday, March 30, the Silverado caravan will mobilize and present the donations to Capuchin Soup Kitchen.

After a successful first year, your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers and Capuchin Soup Kitchen are happy to team up for a second year, to help the community.

“They are able to enjoy necessary household products while using their limited financial resources for rent, utilities, and similar,” Crane said.

The following are suggested items that are most in need:

  • Hand and bath towels
  • Shampoo
  • Soap
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Sheets (full size and twin size)
  • Blankets (full size and twin size)
  • Laundry Detergent & dryer sheets
  • Paper Towel
  • Toilet Tissue
  • Baby wipes

The donation drive will run through Friday, March 30. For more information on Capuchin Soup Kitchen, be sure to check out their Facebook and official website. You can find your local Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers here.
