Summer has certainly gotten off to a hot start in Metro Detroit. While many of us are going out and enjoying the weather – while social distancing of course – we might need something to cool us off. So here are some of Metro Detroiter’s favorite places to get a cool treat during a hot summer day.
Bob Jo’s Frozen Custard
For more than 70 years, Bob Jo’s Frozen Custard has been providing the Wyandotte community with tasty custard and yogurt treats. The Downriver shop reopened its doors last month and is back to selling unique flavors of their famous custard. The Custard Hut
Another popular custard stop is Dearborn Heights’ Custard Hut. If you’re looking for something more than just their typical custard offerings, we suggest trying their famous cookie custard sandwiches or even their hot waffle custard sandwiches. Their Facebook page is constantly being updated with new flavors of the week! Maybe you’re in the mood for something a little lighter or more refreshing than custard, then we suggest heading down to Tou & Mai. The Boba Tea and Asian mini mart offers cool Boba teas along with fruit tea, milk tea, real fruit smoothies, and even Vietnamese lattes. Ferndale’s Treat Dreams offers a wide variety of desserts and treats, and their ice cream always hits the spot on a hot summer afternoon. The innovative homemade ice cream flavors have been a local favorite since they opened their doors in 2010. You can still get items delivered, such as their sundae bar for four or pints of your favorite ice cream, so be sure to check out their Facebook page for more information. For those looking to venture into the extreme desserts, we suggest trying Garrido’s extreme milkshakes. Featuring tasty milkshakes underneath a stacked dessert of chocolate, cake, ice cream sandwiches, and more, it’s enough to satisfy multiple people.
